MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

For the second time this season, St. Pauli scored four goals to beat Heideneheim. Back in September, it was a 4-2 win at home. Last week, Schultz’s side exchanged goals with their hosts until a Rodrigo Zalazar tally in the 87th minute provided the final margin and won 4-3. The win was St. Pauli’s third from their last four matches. The club had registered just one win in their first 15 league matches of the season.

Sandhausen got their second home win of 2021, beating Nurnberg 2-0. Trainer Michael Schiele was forced to juggle his team a bit due to suspensions to Dennis Diekmeier and Emanuel Taffertshofer. Philipp Klingmann got his first action of the season in the Sandhausen midfield, as did newly arrived Janik Bachmann. Sandhausen conceded a lot of possession to their guests and were ultimately outshot, but a Nils Roseler goal just before halftime gave the hosts their lead, onto which Daniel Keita-Ruel build in added time at the end of the match.

This is a relegation battle between two clubs that have recently shown some fight, so it should be a tough-fought battle. St. Pauli owns the more-impressive recent results, though, and have the deeper squad to continue their surge, especially at home. Go with St. Pauli here.

HEAD TO HEAD

Sandhausen beat St. Pauli in October when they met for the first time this season. The visiting team has not won any of the last nine meetings between these clubs.
