TEAM NEWS

This is an absolutely massive match that could have serious title race implications with seven points separating the two.

After a rough start, Melbourne City are playing some really attractive football and getting results. I thought Craig Noone had a great match in their 3-0 win over Macarthur FC, scoring his second goal of the season. I saw a lot of him in the Championship, so I was expecting big things and he’s starting to deliver.

I think centre-backs Curtis Good and Nuno Reis also deserve a shout-out. They don’t waste time on the ball, especially when they win it back in key areas, and that’s given the team a solid foundation to build upon.

They’ll definitely need to be on their game with Matt Simon lining up against them. He continues to be effective by sticking to what he knows and not necessarily trying to do all sorts of different stuff. Whether it’s set pieces or creating on his own, I expect him to have a big impact.

HEAD TO HEAD

Another player looking to make a mark is Alou Kuol. He was fantastic in February, but has gone a month without a goal. I know from experience a purple patch can quickly be followed by a dry spell. He just needs to stay confident in his abilities and keep doing what got him to this point and he’ll pull himself out of it.

With so many things going right for them right now, I think Central Coast Mariners will keep things rolling and get a key win here.
