Prediction: Pohang Steelers to claim home win

 

Pohang Steelers go into this game on a terrible run of form, having lost three of their last four games and not won in a month.

 

Even though they will consider themselves unlucky to have lost after conceding late against Seongnam FC, I don’t think Pohang Steelers made their possession count. They were on top for large spells but when they lost the ball they looked extremely susceptible to the counter-attack.

 

They also defended set-pieces poorly with both of their opponents’ goals coming from corners, so I’m sure they will have been working on improving in that regard as they can’t afford to be so sloppy against Daegu FC.

 

Song Min Kyu’s suspension will also be a huge blow for the hosts. But I’d expect Lim Sang Hyub to switch to the left to fill that void, while Manuel Palacios could be brought back into the starting line-up.

 

Daegu FC, meanwhile, were superb in beating Ulsan Hyundai in their last game for their first win of the season, and it was great to see their star man Cesinha Fernando back to his best with an assist and a lovely winner. Pohang Steelers will likely be viewing the Brazilian as the dangerman.

 

After being recalled to the line-up, I think the victory will have done goalkeeper Choi Yeong Eun’s confidence the world of good. He looked much more assured as the last line of defence, and will aim to take that form into the next game.

 

However, despite that excellent result, I think Pohang Steelers will edge this one and get back to winning ways.
