-----------------------------------
Milan is hosting Lazio to San Siro in a derby match of round 14 in the Italian Serie A.
After Juventus lost earlier today, Milan is now the only undefeated team in the top European soccer leagues. With 31 points, 29 scored goals, and 14 conceded goals, Milan is in first place in the Serie A standings. Milan’s defense has been a little bit shaky as of late, and they have conceded 5 goals in their last 3 games while scoring 6 goals. In their last Serie A game this past weekend, Milan was playing against Sassuolo on the road, and they have had only 32% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and 77% of the correct passes. Milan scored the fastest goal this season, in the 6th second, and they scored another one in the 26th minute. Milan also conceded a goal in the 89th minute, but they still won this match 1-2 on the road. Ibrahimovic is the leading goalscorer for Milan with 10 goals, but he is still questionable for this match. Calhanoglu has added 4 assists. Kjaer, Bennancer, and Gabbia are injured, while Rebic is also questionable. Kessie is suspended because of the yellow cards. I hope Milan can stay in this good form, after all, it would be a shame for this streak to end.
After three games without a win, Lazio was playing against Napoli at home, and they have had only 39% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 83% of the correct passes. Despite being the weaker team in this match, Lazio has scored 1 goal in each half, and they have won this game 2-0. With this win, Lazio has climbed to 8th place with 21 points, just 3 points away from the Champions League, but seeing how bad their defense is, Lazio will have a tough time getting there. Offensively, Lazio is decent with 20 scored goals, but they also conceded 20 goals which are not great for the team aiming for the Champions League. Immobile has scored 8 goals for Lazio so far this season, while Caicedo has 4 goals. Milinkovic-Savic has added 3 goals and 3 assists. Proto, Lulic, and Fares are all injured, while Leiva, Correa, and Acerbi are still questionable. It’s not that Lazio is a bad team, but they have been wildly inconsistent dating back to the restart of last season, and that has cost them a lot, and it will cost them more unless they improve fast.
Milan has been dominant in this matchup, and they are still undefeated this season. one win for Lazio is not giving me confidence they can beat Milan in this form, and for that reason, this is a no brainer for me. I’m taking Milan at home.
Pick: Milan and over 2.5
