MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN

Sheff Wednesday held on for what could prove to be a valuable point in the relegation battle at the weekend as they played out a 1-1 draw away from home against Tony Mowbray’s Blackburn side. The Yorkshire side have ended a run of four straight league defeats with a win and a drawn in the last two games, moving them within three points of safety.

Middlesbrough were one of four sides who didn’t play on Boxing Day as their home game against Rotherham was postponed due to positive COVID-19 tests in their opponents’ squad. A lack of Boxing Day action saw the Teesside club drop down to eighth place, but Neil Warnock’s men have still won three consecutive league games.

Middlesbrough are rested up and in fine form and should claim a comfortable victory here.

HEAD TO HEAD

Middlesbrough won 2-1 away in Yorkshire when the sides met in July of this year.
